Like cotton, silk, and cashmere, mohair is another natural fibre you can get suits made out of. Mohair fabric is made from the hair of Angora goats.

Mohair suits are commonly associated with the 70s and a certain Elton John song, but definitely deserve more attention today. Mohair is one of the best suit materials for a summer suit or for wear in hot, humid climates, thanks to its moisture-absorbing properties.

It’s important to distinguish between mohair wool and angora wool. If you’re unfamiliar, mohair wool comes from angora goats, whereas angora wool actually comes from angora rabbits.

As you’ve probably learned by now, the cost of suits is heavily dependent on the fabric it’s made out of. Vicuña is the most expensive fabric you can get a suit cut from, so it’s pretty much guaranteed that a vicuña suit will cost more than a cashmere suit, which itself is considered luxurious.

Each fabric has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, mohair is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a durable, lightweight fabric. Cashmere is great if you’re looking for something soft and warm – great for the autumn and winter months. Cotton may also have a distinct advantage depending on where you live or wear your suit in that moths don’t feed on cotton fibres as they do on animal fibres, but this is not a major concern for most people.
