Suit cloth at Mister Singh’s

We keep several thousand rolls in the shop, on two floors, including up the stairs. What is on the shelf changes constantly, so instead of a catalogue that goes out of date the week it is posted, here is what each of our three tiers actually means. When you come in you will see everything we have in your tier, and you can move up or down once you have felt the difference side by side.

The swatches on the pages below are updated a few times a year and are a guide rather than a live stock list. What is on the shelf changes constantly and there is a good deal more in the shop than we can photograph.

Standard

Hard-wearing wool blends. The right choice if you want a suit that looks sharp, survives being packed into a suitcase, and costs a good deal less than the equivalent at home. This is around 40% of what we sell and is the best option for many of our clients.

Superior

Pure wools, premium blends, and wool-linen blends in a wider range of weights and patterns. Better drape and usually holds its shape well through a long day.

Premium

Our best cloth. Fine-count wools, wool-cashmere and wool-silk. For a suit you intend to still be wearing in ten years.

Bear in mind that Premium covers a wide range of fabrics. This includes both fabrics suited for wear several times a week and fabrics suitable for suits you can wear for special occasions (i.e. more delicate options).

Weight matters more than most people expect

The cloth that feels best in your hand is not always the cloth you want in the climate you are going home to. A light wool that feels perfect here can look thin in a cold, damp winter. Tell us where the suit is going to be worn and we will steer you sensibly. If it is for a beach wedding here, that is a different conversation and linen becomes the most natural answer.

A particular weight, a colour you have seen elsewhere, a pattern you have in mind: message us before you arrive and we will tell you honestly whether we have it or if we can arrange to source it prior to your visit.
