What to expect when you have clothes made with us
Most people who come to us are in Phuket for a week or less and have never had anything made before. Here is how it actually goes, so there are no surprises.
How long it takes
Shirts, blouses, trousers and skirts: two to three days, usually with one fitting.
Dresses: three to four days, or longer where there is beading or embroidery.
Suits: three to four days with two fittings. Two or three is sometimes possible if your trip is short. Occasionally it takes a little longer, depending on the cloth you choose and when you are free to come back.
Tell us your dates when you first get in touch and we will say honestly what is comfortable and what is going to be tight in terms of timeline. We would rather know at the start than be asked on the last day.
Fittings
For shirts, blouses, trousers and skirts, one fitting is usually enough. For a suit, two is ideal: the first checks the shape, the second confirms it. One is often sufficient and the result is still good, but the second fitting is where a suit stops being close and starts being right.
Bear in mind that, if you are scheduled to have two fittings, the first fitting is often intended to be a preliminary fitting where the garment will be in an incomplete state. This fitting sets the tone for the second fitting. Please don’t be concerned as this is a standard part of the process.
Choosing cloth
This is the part that takes longest and it is the part worth taking time over. We keep several hundred rolls of fabric across three tiers, and you will see and feel the difference side by side before you choose anything.
What it costs
What you pay depends almost entirely on the cloth. A suit in a hard-wearing wool blend and the same suit in a fine wool-cashmere are different propositions, so a single number for “a suit” would not tell you much.
What we can promise is that you will have the exact figure before any work starts. Agreed at the counter, fittings included, and it does not move afterwards. Message us on WhatsApp with what you are after and we will come back to you.
Common questions
Can you copy something I bring?
Usually. Bring it in and we will tell you what we can match exactly and what we would do differently, before you commit to anything.
Do I pay a deposit?
Yes. A deposit when you order and the balance when you collect, if you do not choose to pay completely upfront.
Can you ship to me?
Yes, worldwide. And once we have your measurements on file, repeat orders can be made without you coming back to Phuket. Shipping charges apply and depend on the destination.
Do you offer pick up from my hotel?
Yes, anywhere in Phuket, at no charge. Message us and we will arrange it, and let you know the vehicle type and license plate number when the driver is on their way to you.
What should I bring?
Nothing at all is needed, but a photo of something you like helps, and a garment that already fits you well helps more.
What should I wear to have measurements taken?
Ordinary clothes are fine, but thinner clothes help. Bulky layers make measuring less accurate, so a shirt rather than a jacket, and normal trousers rather than heavy denim jeans if we are measuring for a suit. If you have shoes you intend to wear with the finished garment, bring them along as well.
Do you offer a discount for new customers?
We do not run new customer promotions. Our prices are competitive to begin with, and we would rather quote the same figure to everybody than inflate it and discount back. We do run package offers from time to time, usually combining suits and shirts, and existing customers get looked after when they return. Ask us what is running when you get in touch.
