The tailor you choose to get your suit made, the fabric, the construction, and the buttons, among other things, all contribute towards the cost of a suit. Plus, you might decide to get surgeon’s cuffs, a Milanese buttonhole, or your initials monogrammed, and these could increase the suit’s cost of your custom suit.
On the other hand, taking along your own fabric might lower the cost of your suit, but you’ll have to check with your tailor to see whether this would be acceptable to them beforehand.
You might see ads for a $99 ‘tailored suit’, but are they really tailored for you? What fabrics are they made from? How long would they even last? These are some questions worth asking when you see a deal that’s, quite frankly, too good to be true.
